Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) is the most prevalent and costly cause of death for all classes of cattle and calves in the United States. This project will determine if calves carrying a single base pair change are resistant to M.haemolytica Lkt., and are therefore not susceptible or only mildly susceptible to pneumonia. If so, this finding would offer an approach to reduce the incidence of BRD genetically, and thereby improve animal welfare.
